St. Maarten minister Hassink to present half-year report to Parliament today


PHILIPSBURG–Finance Minister Martin Hassink will make his first appearance in Parliament today, Monday, when he presents the first half year report for 2013 to the Central Committee.

This report covers a period when now former Finance Minister Roland Tuitt headed the Finance Ministry. Hassink became Minister in mid-June.

The public committee meeting starts in Parliament House at 10:00am. The discussion is in accordance with Article 44 of the Compatibility Ordinance.

Members of Parliament (MPs) have already received the half year report for their perusal. National Alliance (NA) MP George Pantophlet has so far been the only one to pose questions on the contents of the report.

It is expected that MPs will voice much concern about the country’s financial position and outlook for the remainder of the year during today’s meeting.
