Deadline for filling income tax return form on St. Maarten has passed

PHILIPSBURG -Tuesday, June 4, was the deadline to file the 2012 Income Tax return forms.

The due date is determined based on the date on which the Income Tax forms were made available to the taxpayers, which was April 5. According to the law, taxes must be filed two months after the forms were made available. The 2012 Income Tax Form was available via . First, an e-login must be requested to download the Income Tax Form 2012 (with preferred browser, Internet Explorer). Taxpayers who missed the deadline could have requested an extension on June 4. The extension could have been made by submitting a letter requesting a postponement/extension. This request had to have been submitted on/before the due date and properly motivated with valid reasons that substantiate the need for additional time.   All relevant information concerning the client had to have been stated in the letter, including full name, address, telephone number, crib number and, if married, information of the spouse. The request must have been signed by the client or by an authorised person.
